HPA Staff Information - come and help deliver Peak Assault

Whatever your skills, we can use you at Peak Assault.

For the weekend of Peak Assault we need:

  • Hill Marshals - Those who are comfortable in T1 & T2 Summer areas, you may have an Amateur Radio Licence

  • Field Response Team - As Hill Marshals, but focussing in offering support to those who are injured or fall ill.

  • First Aid / Medical Team - For assessing and treating those injured and ill, once the FRT have recovered them.

  • Base Camp Team - Supporting the facilities and people at Base Camp, including coralling and managing kit check and start/finish areas and processes.

  • Overnight Team - Supporting the Explorers for their overnight camp separate from Base Camp

  • Administration Support - Assisting the registrar with managing all the attendee details, scoring and other related duties.

  • Transport Support - Support our transport manager with Coach and Minibus logistics over the weekend.

In the week leading up to Peak Assault (depart Herts Wed AM), we need

  • Course Setting Team - To recce and lay the course for the weekend, then Marshal or FRT.

  • Base Camp Team - "Build" and support the Peak Assault home in time for the weekend.

Your skills may not be listed here, but please get in touch with the registrar if you think you have skills that would be helpful and would like to come. hpa@hertfordshirescouts.org.uk

All staff on Peak Assault must be over 18 with a valid Scouting DBS and up to date Mandatory Ongoing Learning.

Hillwallking Experience Seekers....if you are looking to learn more skills in the hills, you can join our hill marshals as an "assistant" You will need to be able to look after yourself in the hills, be fit and able for a potential 12 hour day out in the hills. This may be a day of intense activity from the start, quiet throughout, or a mix. Please book yourself on as a hill marshal and place a note in "Other" as "seeking hillwalking experience".

How to Book your place? Please read carefully

Please register by following the link below, from there you will have the option to book and pay. Health forms will be requested at a later date.

All staff pay a flat rate of £5 per day (includes all fees and catering including lunches) + Transport £45.

The expectation is that Staff use HPA Transport (Coach, Minibus etc.) to get to/from the event. However, if this is not practical and the only option you have is to travel directly to Peak Assault in your own vehicle then please email hpa@hertfordshirescouts.org.uk explaining why you need to self-transport before booking your place. Car parking may be extremely limited at the site but our main concern is a duty of care for solo drivers, particularly on the Sunday return trip after a strenuous weekend. No expenses/fuel will be paid for self-travel, however you will not pay the £45 transport fee.

There are a limited amount of serviced camper van pitches available, with electric hookup, drainage and water. Campervans and caravans will not be able to move once parked until the end of the weekend due to space limitations. You can book your campervan pitch when going through to the booking/payment portal. Camper van pitches cost an additional £30 per night. If sharing a campervan, only one person is required to book and pay the £30 for this.
